NRG Energy Center Minneapolis

NRG Energy Center Minneapolis provides energy-efficient and environmentally sound district heating and/or cooling services to buildings in downtown Minneapolis. It also operates a separate district heating system that serves a hospital and university.

Around the clock, the NRG Minneapolis produces and distributes steam and hot water for heating and chilled water for cooling. We serve more than 100 downtown buildings, heating more than 43 million square feet of space and cooling more than 22 million square feet. That means we provide enough steam to heat the equivalent of 15,000 to 20,000 typical Minnesota homes and enough chilled water to air condition 12,000 to 15,000!

In 1996, NRG Minneapolis was named System of the Year by the International District Energy Association.
