NRG Energy Center TucsonNRG Energy Center Tucson provides energy-efficient and environmentally sound combined heat and power and district energy service to buildings in downtown Tucson, Ariz. NRG Tucson began operation in 2003 as Tucson District Energy LC, a subsidiary of Northwind Phoenix. Today NRG Tucson provides district hot water and chilled water to the Tucson Convention Center and district hot water, chilled water and electricity to the police and fire buildings. In 2004, the company also began operating a heating and cooling plant at the Midtown Police Station. All told, NRG Tucson serves six buildings downtown buildings. NRG Energy Center Tucson is a wholly owned subsidiary of NRG Thermal, an NRG Energy Inc. company.
